Courage, Integrity, Respect, Curiosity, Leadership, and Excellence

Odyssey’s identity as a charter school was based on our commitment to development of our core values, known as the CIRCLE words. These words capture the attributes that each member of our community strives to demonstrate each day.  Students participate in ongoing lessons to learn what each word means and how their actions reflect this value. Odyssey promotes the CIRCLE words by recognizing students and staff members who demonstrate these important characteristics.

 

At Odyssey, 

  • Courage means bravely trying new things, working to overcome challenges, and choosing to stand up for yourself and others, even if you feel unsure, nervous, or afraid. 
  • Integrity means making good choices, thinking for yourself, and owning your mistakes. It means we are honest, reflective, and responsible with our words and actions—not for recognition or reward, but because it reflects our character.
  • Respect means treating yourself, others, and the world around you with empathy, kindness, and care. We show respect by using thoughtful words and actions, listening to others, being open to different ideas, and helping everyone feel welcome and valued.
  • Curiosity is having a desire to learn, ask questions, explore new ideas, and seek understanding. It means we approach new experiences in and outside of school with an open mind and showing interest in the thoughts, beliefs, and experiences of others.
  • Leadership means actively contributing to a healthy community by setting a positive example, encouraging and supporting peers, and advocating for self and others. Leaders act with purpose, collaborate to solve problems, and uplift and celebrate the contributions and successes of others. 
  • Excellence means doing your best and striving to grow. It means taking pride in your work or accomplishments, learning from mistakes, and persevering through challenges. We show excellence by setting goals, putting in intentional effort, and challenging ourselves to continue to improve.
